American Teachers Visit Turkey

The 2009-2010 Istanbul Lecture Series was launched with a lecture by Professor Nurhan Atasoy on "Turkish Culture in Europe". The lectures are intended to introduce the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Turkey to resident representatives and officials of foreign institutions in Istanbul, such as members of the consular corps, foreign faculty members and the expatriate community at large. This program serves the mission of the Turkish Cultural Foundation to promote Turkish culture and build cultural bridges through people to people cultural exchanges and public education. TCF SOFA Chicago 2009

The Turkish Cultural Foundation was proud to present the works of Turkish artists Ebru Dosekci, Emel Vardar, Suleyman Saim Tekcan and Ebru Yilmaz at the Sculpture Objects and Functional Art (SOFA) Fair in Chicago on November 6-8, 2009. SOFA Chicago featured 68 prestigious galleries from 12 countries and was visited by nearly 35,000 visitors, including art collectors, museum and gallery curators. The Turkish Cultural Foundation has been sponsoring Turkish artists' participation in the SOFA fairs in Chicago and New York for the past three years and is the only Foundation participating in this international art exposition. The Turkish Cultural Foundation's showcase of Turkish art toward at SOFA reflects the Foundation's mission to expand international opportunities for Turkish artists, as well as promote the finest examples Turkish modern art. Cultural Tour 2009

The 2009 TCF Cultural Tour introduced the art, culture and sights of Turkey to a select group of American visitors. The tour featured special cultural presentations and an itinerary that highlights a millennium of Turkish history, culture and architecture in Anatolia. TCF Launches Image Archive on Turkish Art

The Turkish Cultural Foundation is pleased to present the Image Archive of Turkish Art. This Archive is a digitalized slide repository, created from the professional collection of Prof. Dr. Nurhan Atasoy, Art Historian and Senior Scholar of the Turkish Cultural Foundation. A unique section of this Archive contains images taken during Dr. Atasoy’s extensive domestic and international travels, including research trips to museums, exhibitions and other locations of note dating back to 1955. Beyond a collection of images, the Archive is, therefore, also a historical record of numerous works of art. The Image Archive of Turkish Art will be accessible to students, scholars and researchers worldwide and will be reached at Turkish Cultural Foundation website after December 9.

Turkish Festivals

Turkish American communities across the United States celebrated Turkish culture and heritage in festivals throughout the summer and early fall. Supported by grants from the Turkish Cultural Foundation, Turkish festivals in Boston, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston and Washington DC, the festivals attracted tens of thousands of visitors and highlighting Turkish music, dance, food and art.
